I never expected to lose so much in such a short time. It was crazy unexpected so I decided to get checked out to make sure everything was okay. And I’m glad to be A-Ok.

The doctor said it’s not very ideal to lose so much in such a short time, but what I did, overall, was healthy. He only added that you should not eat fruits as a main meal, but only as an appetizer, dessert or snack.

Just to give you an idea of what I did, see below. Just take note of what the doctor said about the fruits. And also note that I combined this diet with my regular yoga session. And buy a scale so you can monitor your progress (or regression) on a daily basis!

Good luck!

First week:

I lost 10 pounds in my first week. I did not follow any diet plan but I avoided many things:

1. Soft drinks / iced tea

2. Snacks (big sacrifice since I’m a big snack eater)

3. Sweets! cakes, candies, gummies, ice creams, desserts…

4. Reduce my consumption of rice

5. Reduce my meat intake

But I ate the following:

  • Fruit! I never realized they taste so good! I love grapefruit!
  • Vegetables! Vegetables all you want!
  • Water water water… I love water in all its splendor
  • Corn! My reward!

Second week:

I lost another 10 pounds. And this was the week that I realized that I was no longer a size XL or a 38 waist! But I had to stick to the clothes I had on hand as I felt I would lose more in the coming weeks and it would be a waste to go shopping.

This time, I had a diet plan and tried the General Motors diet (suggested by a colleague).

Read on the Internet that General Motors Company (GM) prepared this diet plan for its employees to promote healthy living. But some said this was GM’s way of reducing their health insurance… you won’t need one if you’re healthy, right?

For whatever reason it was designed for, I decided to use it. If something promises you a weight loss of 10 to 17 pounds in a week, would you turn it down? I don’t!

Here it is….

I didn’t drink alcohol during this week and I drank a lot of water!

Day one – All fruits except bananas.

Day two: all veggies, but I started my day with mashed potatoes (minus the KFC gravy).

Day Three – A mix of fruits and vegetables. Without banana and potato.

Day four: 8 bananas and 3 glasses of milk (fat free). I paired this with Knorr Chicken Soup for lunch.

Day five: I had beef and tomatoes! And I increased my water intake.

Sixth day – Beef and vegetables.

Day Seven – Brown rice and vegetables. More mango juice from Fruitas.

Third to eight weeks:

Weight loss slowed over the next few weeks. I was mostly losing 1 pound a day. There were even times when I lost nothing at all. But in the next 6 weeks, I lost a total of 20 pounds.

To be honest, I struggled with the GM diet. Thinking back on it now, I was pretty amazed at how the hell I did it. So I decided to go back to my first week diet plan, but replaced my white rice with brown or red rice. Also, I continued to avoid the list I mentioned above. And, yes, corn resurfaced in my daily reward.

In total, I lost a total of 40 pounds in 75 days! And from XL, I’m now mostly a size medium (sometimes L) and from size 38, I’m mostly a size 34 (or 33).

And I look different! Some people say I look differently bad, but others say I look differently good. Alright. It’s his opinion. The most important thing for me, I think I look very different. And I feel different good. I don’t get tired easily and I can play 3 sets of badminton without stopping. Wow!

I think the most important lesson here is discipline and determination. Discipline will keep you focused and determination will fuel you to reach that goal.

Get fit and stay healthy!
