I couldn’t wait for Cataclysm to be released, but along with its release, the inflation in the game exploded. It all got extremely expensive and I really wasn’t ready for it. I didn’t have any gathering professions on any of my characters and with Obsidium and Elementium at 250g/stack, I didn’t think I’d ever get to 525 skill in jewelery or engineering. So, it was time for some World of Warcraft farming.

But what to grow?

With no gathering professions, you have to rely only on your weapons to farm gold. In Wrath of the Lich King, one of my main sources of gold was Eternals. That’s because these crafting materials were easy to get from elementals in Wintergrasp and since the Horde was always in control, I always had a chance to kill Revenants.

Now, you may have noticed that Volatile Fire, Earth, Air, Water, and Life have a pretty low drop rate from mobs. So as far as this farming aspect of World of Warcraft goes, I wasn’t very effective killing elemental mobs for volatile items. Sure, they introduced the electrostatic condenser for engineering, which allows you to occasionally get volatile air while mining, skinning, or gathering herbs, but since I didn’t have any of these gathering professions, it was of no use to me.

Why…

One of the best places to farm something valuable for me became the sunken world of Vashj’ir. You are probably wondering what could be so profitable to grow there. I’ll tell you what and why.

Speckled sea turtles. They drop giant turtle tongues that cooks need to increase their cooking skill. Food you can make with these tongues now grants 60 agility and 60 stamina. Which means that a rogue or hunter will not just throw away the food he cooks, but eat it or sell it on the auction house. Since not many players like the underwater world, there are generally not many languages in AH, so the price is high. Also, if you’re a skinner, you’ll get a lot of scraps of wild leather, wild leather, and strange bloated stomachs, which contain volatile elements. Since the turtles are not very high level, they are all 80-81, you don’t even need a max level character.

Of course, this is just one way to farm in World of Warcraft for any player without stacking professions in Cataclysm. I hope what I have told you here helps you. Happy farming in World of Warcraft!
