Vacations in Canada can provide some of the most enjoyable breaks from work. Especially if you’re in a hot country, the cooler weather can make for a welcome change for once; you may not want to live there, but as a vacation destination, Canada can really deliver. The way the world is with so many countries at war, socially indifferent and politically free Canadians can be a very welcoming community. And Canada has a lot to offer, with all its history, places to visit, cultural activities, and sports activities like whitewater rafting. Then there is its spectacular scenery that offers all kinds of activities for everyone.

So where could you visit during your Canada vacation?

There are so many great places in Canada to visit, you’d have to take a series of trips just to see the most interesting parts. After all, Canada is the second largest country in the world, from Alberta to Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, there is so much to see. Then add to that Manitoba, Vancouver Island, and Newfoundland (not actually part of Canada, but very close). Probably the first places on your list to visit are the most internationally known tourist attractions; the incredible Niagara Falls, the equally great Jasper National Park and the spectacular Banff National Park.

Well, what activities will you be able to participate in while in Canada?

Obviously walking around in such a grand environment would be spectacular, but if you’re one of those people who needs a little more action, you definitely won’t be disappointed. Some of the best whitewater rafting can be found here and then there are other water sports like kayaking and boating to consider. One of the best places to engage in these activities would be Canada’s longest river, the Mackenzie, which begins in the Northwest Territories and eventually ends in Hudson Bay.

If water sports are not for you, you can always visit some of the wilder regions where fishing and hunting activities attract a large number of professional and non-professional sportsmen. And you can also go see a hockey game in one of the most well-known Canadian hockey arenas. Then there’s the French-Canadian cuisine, you just have to try some of the specialties like the cookies, maple syrup and galumpkies.

If all this doesn’t interest you, why not consider getting away from all the tourist attractions and sporting activities and take a closer look at Canadian culture? Meet the people, take part in their cultural activities, take a look at their history (strangely free of international problems). This is something that few tourists do, but it is the only way to really get to know a country and its culture.

Whether you’re interested in the sheer beauty of the Canadian wilderness, or the pure adrenaline rush you seek when rafting down a river, or the challenge of climbing Canada’s tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson in British Columbia, Canada has something to offer us all. The only question is will he pass up the opportunity?
