It is common for many women to get a yeast infection soon after taking a course of antibiotics. In a nutshell, the reason for this is that antibiotics are responsible for killing different types of diseases and bacteria in the body. However, in doing so, antibiotics also kill off much of the good bacteria that keep yeast in the body in check.

The problem is further aggravated if antibiotics are used very frequently or for longer periods of time. This allows the infected body to develop its defenses and fight the infection. Heavy doses of antibiotics lead to fungal overgrowth in the stomach and other skin folds. It can also lead to candidiasis and, over time, become serious. But people with cancer and other diseases have to rely on antibiotics and steroids. This makes the yeast infection worse.

Therefore, to prevent antibiotics from making a yeast infection worse, their use should be avoided as much as possible. The common cold, flu, and sinusitis often lead people to take antibiotics, but they should not be taken unless the illness is prolonged. Although antibiotics help provide relief, they weaken the body’s immune system. The body becomes dependent on antibiotics to fight every infection or illness. Your natural immunity is hampered and people with weak immune systems are more likely to get a yeast infection.

The excessive use of antibiotics is particularly harmful for children. Since their bodies are in a state of continual growth and development, immunity also develops over time. But overuse of antibiotics can weaken the immune system as the body becomes dependent on antibiotics. Therefore, they become susceptible to fungal infections and other diseases. Alternative remedies and holistic treatment methods can be helpful in preventing the use of antibiotics. Eating a healthy and balanced diet is essential. Eating yogurt and garlic is a good option. Sugar intake should be limited to combat fungal infections and plenty of water should be consumed. Exercise can also help build the body’s immunity.

It’s pretty clear that antibiotics can worsen or even cause a yeast infection. Unfortunately, this is an unwanted side effect of using antibiotics because while they can happily and easily kill a disease, they are continually affecting other bacteria that help the yeast infection grow.
