On Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 6:30 pm, the Super Bowl was kicked off by the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers received the ball. Unable to put any points on the board, the Steelers were forced to punt the ball, setting the tone for an obviously disastrous game. Recurring mistakes by both teams, such as missed catches and forced turnovers, set the tone of the game, preventing teams from showing their full potential.

In the first half, within twenty seconds, Green Bay scores two touchdowns. This really put a strain on the defense as frustration begins to set in on the Steelers. Not wanting to fall apart, the Steelers’ offense scores a touchdown with forty seconds left in halftime, cutting the Packers’ lead by eleven. Cornerback, Green Bay Packers’ Charles Woodson, suffered a broken clavicle and left the game early.

During halftime, a special performance by the Black Eyed Peas really got the fans pumped. Performing a tune from their hits, the Black Eyed Peas put on a futuristic performance, decorating Cowboys Stadium with strobe lights and hundreds of dancers. National recording artist Usher also made a surprising appearance, performing his hit song “OMG.”

In the second half, the Steelers manage to score quickly with Rashaad Mendenhall hitting the ball inside the goal line and scoring the second touchdown. Third and seventh, the Steelers’ Harrison makes a great play by sacking Aaron Rodgers, forcing the Packers to punt. After halftime, Pittsburgh seems more focused, but still couldn’t shake the Packers’ lead. This young team was ready and could feel the championship getting closer. Big Ben threw two interceptions leaving the Steelers with three turnovers.

Picked four to one by Sports Center, Packers win Superbowl XLV 25-31. Many celebrities attended the game, including former President George W. Bush.
