Tired of tripping over things on your bedroom floor and then having to put old clothes away in your closet, just to make room for more? If so, you probably need an organizational makeover in your bedroom. It really doesn’t matter what size room you have, you can still make the most of your space. The key to having more flooring and storage space is the way you think. Can you detach yourself from things and get a little creative when it comes to getting more organized? So here are some tips to help you enjoy your bedroom space that much more.

Search your closet and free yourself from clutter

Most people’s bedroom closets are not something to brag about, as they are often the last resting place for many old clothes, bags, shoes, personal accessories, and other items. You would be surprised what ends up there and what has actually been forgotten. Force yourself to dig it all up and seriously toss out a lot of items that you won’t use and will never use again. If you haven’t used it in the last year, you probably will never use it. Unless it’s a special item, throw it in the pile to go.

Apply the tools to your closet space

Even if you’re not very handy with tools, you can still reconfigure your closet for a good organizing space. There are many ideas for saving space at your local hardware store. Get a little creative and think about stacking, overlapping, and hanging everything. Most people don’t make good use of their closet space and lose a lot of organizational storage space because of it. If you need a little nudge in the right direction, your hardware store often has pictures of how to use various types of closet hardware for storage.

Get rid of what doesn’t belong in your bedroom

You’d be surprised what ends up in most people’s bedrooms. Anything that doesn’t work elsewhere in the house often ends up in a bedroom, simply because it hides more easily there. Although not a good idea, it is easier for many busy people. However, if you want to get serious about your bedroom remodel, be brutal about getting rid of or storing things elsewhere. Bicycles, recreational equipment, excess furniture, living accessories, and even small appliances can end up in a bedroom. They must go.

Change the furniture in your bedroom

Change is sometimes good, although some people have a hard time adjusting to change. In this case, if you really want to organize your bedroom and open up more floor space for you to enjoy, you will have to change things up. Especially if you have a smaller bedroom, you may need to reconsider the type of bed and furniture you have. To have more floor space, you need to have less furniture.

How do you do it when you need extra storage for personal items? Just choose a bed frame with drawers built underneath, just like the cabinets. Some units have a lot of drawers and allow you to forget about chests and dressers and just use a bed with a side table or two. You can fit up to 14 drawers on a queen-size bed, making your room much more organized, plus plenty of floor space.
