Magnetic Level Indicator Work

A magnetic level indicator works by projecting a magnetic field through a chamber to measure fluid levels. The float is normally made of titanium or 316 stainless steel, but can be made from a variety of materials. It rotates with the fluid level and shows the level on an external face. The float’s sensitivity is sensitive to changes in the level of the fluid inside the chamber. During a measurement, the resulting visual display tells the user whether the fluid level is too high or too low.

Magnetic level indicators are based on the interaction between two magnets. As a result, the stronger the magnetic field, the more accurate the readings will be. Many manufacturers use a single magnet to produce the strength of the north field. The weaker the magnetic field is, the smaller the float and indicator will be. The strength of the magnetic field is what affects the switches and transmitters. Some manufacturers use a single annular ring or a series of single bar magnets in a circular array.

Magnetic level gauges contain a float that indicates the liquid’s level. These are made of stainless steel, titanium, or plastic. They are completely safe for hazardous areas and can be installed anywhere in the process. They are also virtually maintenance-free. Unlike traditional floats, which may need to be cleaned and checked periodically, magnetic level gauges are virtually maintenance free. Because they never come into contact with the process fluid, magnetic level gauges are especially suitable for use in toxic liquids.

How Does a Magnetic Level Indicator Work?

The mechanism of a magnetic level gauge is based on magnetism. The magnetic field is linked to a float inside the vessel. As the float rises or falls, the magnet moves correspondingly. As the float goes up or down, the corresponding float position matches the fluid level in the vessel. When the meter is calibrated correctly, the readout will be accurate every time.

A magnetic level indicator is usually made of stainless steel. Its housing is resistant to corrosion and is used in extreme environments. A magnetic level gauge can be installed in an confined space and requires little maintenance. A float is not affected by power loss, which can affect the level of a fluid. A float’s movement is a direct reflection of the fluid. However, if it is outside of the cylinder, it will move with the liquid.

A magnetic level indicator has two components. A magnetic float floats the float, which is usually made of titanium or stainless steel. It is designed to float on the surface of a liquid. The underlying magnets provide the required resistance for the floats to withstand this pressure and temperature. If the movable spheres are moved, the corresponding floats will move with it.
