Sometimes a situation in life can arise when a child has grown up being raised by his grandparents. Sudden death, divorce, and parental abuse leave children in the custody of grandparents. The best people at such a time to raise children are grandparents. Current US law on the rights of grandparents to raise their grandchildren is limited in that it requires prior court approval and sanction to take custody of the child. This is very important when one or both parents object to visitation and grandparent rights, even if the child wants visitation.

Now the important question that arises here is; Can all grandparents take care of their grandchildren? The answer to this question is yes and no, which means that the fundamental right of parents to raise their children cannot be questioned. The aim of finding a solution to this dilemma is to protect the best interests of the child. At their young age, children can become emotionally upset due to family problems.

Some advantages of being a grandfather:

Caring for a child keeps grandparents energetic and vibrant even if their health is not adequate for continuous activity. They develop a feeling of security that the grandchildren can care for them when they become too dependent on others due to old age. Among grandparents, grandmothers have a different role in caring for a child. Children develop more attachment to their grandmothers because most of the time the grandmother bathes them, feeds them and even reads books to them. Research has shown that when children are cared for by their grandmothers, they are less likely to suffer bodily injury. When children are in the care of parents or other close relatives, they often forget to take care of the children while they get involved in other work. Grandparents are more cautious with children and their safety.

The disadvantages of being a grandfather:

Not all grandparents are capable of raising their grandchildren. They may have their own problems that make them unable to care for a child. The death of a child’s parents often places the responsibility of raising the children on the grandparents. One major issue is memory loss. Grandparents may forget to give the child medicine or they may forget to buy something important for them. People with disabilities and physical problems may have difficulty caring for children. The poor financial situation of the grandparents can affect the health and education of the child.

The success of breeding depends on several factors. It includes the physical and mental health of the grandparents, the support they receive from other family members and the community, the economic situation, and the emotional and health problems of the children. Grandparents raising grandchildren is a more loving option than placing a child with strangers.
