Ah, the list… This beautiful asset to the success of a professional business is tremendous. There was a point in my personal experience where I had hundreds and thousands of dollars worth of lead lists from companies making claims that I couldn’t resist… at least until I caught on and realized they were just selling me. your product. Having used phone lists, mailing lists, guaranteed traffic lists, guaranteed signups, and probably a couple of other things that escape me at the moment, I can honestly say that I have never had the same success with leads I have with leads. personally generated.

Pay-per-click advertising allows you to target any niche of prospects you want. It’s amazing how detailed you can get with this type of advertising. This type of advertising can be expensive and it may not work for everyone because it really depends on your ability to write an amazing ad that stands out. On the flip side of that, there needs to be some cash behind your ad so that you can run it for a longer period of time and have the ability to withstand all those clicks that don’t lead to a new sale or a new prospect. You’d rather have a hundred qualified leads through pay-per-click advertising than have a list of 100,000 leads from some business you’re supposed to be targeting.

It’s no secret, or at least it shouldn’t be, that many or most leading companies sell their lead lists to multiple people. This means that Joe Slinky with Company X is trying to sell his deal to the same people as you. The trick, if that’s not enough, is that it’s usually not just two people. It can be four or more people with the same list! But if you ask the company about this, they might say something like “Yes, we sell this list to other people, but no one in the business you’re doing” lol, really? Yeah, seriously… Because apparently these prospects who opted for some generic capture page want to be criticized by five different people, they’re talking about something different. Mistaken!

Another thing to keep in mind is the good money-back guarantee. It’s the fancy blurb that says, “If you don’t get the answer you should within X days, we’ll refund your money!” Then what you don’t notice at the bottom of the page in fine print says, “You’ll need to provide our company with the number of leads you contacted, your ROI, why you think you should get a refund, the date you purchased leads, the date you contacted the leads, your home address, and you are only eligible for a refund if the leads have not performed to your expectations after 120 days.” That wicked little section in fine print does the trick. To top it off, the person actually trying to get a refund for the horrible lead list is never able to get in touch with the company and not a single email is answered either. So choose your poison wisely.

The art of list building and lead generation is something that most people tend not to pay enough attention to. You can know your compensation plan backwards, forwards and backwards, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have someone to tell who is interested. Organic traffic from search engines is something that seems to be underestimated or at least overlooked. This is a very valuable tool for anyone running a business. If you have a ton of money, you can be on sponsored links all day, every day forever, but if you want to build a website and have tons of traffic without paying every time someone finds you online, then look Engine optimization is where it’s at. I’m not going to go into that in this article, but you can go to Google and type in “SEO” and learn a little bit about it.

The fallacy is that by spending some money on a prospect list, you are reducing the possibility of building a list from scratch. This is terribly wrong and as a result many businesses are making a lot of money due to the “get rich quick” mentality. For the home-based business crowd or the affiliate marketing crowd, or any number of other entrepreneurs, building a highly-qualified list of prospects who 1) want to hear from you, 2) want your service product, or at least learn more about him, and 3) Decide to give YOU his information for further correspondence; This is the list that creates a long-lasting product buyer and a residual income that doesn’t wane a month or two later. That is of course if you are with the right company 🙂
