Many know me as a soup connoisseur, and I really thank you for the title, however, I must tell you that all of my soup making talents and skills have evolved over at least a decade or more. I am often asked; “How did you make this wonderful soup?” and they tell me; “Your soups are always delicious.” Well, maybe it’s time I shared some of my secrets with you here today, if you’ll excuse me. Let’s talk.

Okay, so how did I turn into soup? After all, I am a high power eater and was born hungry according to my mother. Well, it just so happens that years ago, I had a toothache and it hurt to eat anything too solid. I was traveling and my dentist was back in California. If I didn’t chew enough food, it would get stuck in my throat, so I started making soup. I was traveling in an RV, running my company, so it didn’t have all the conveniences of a real kitchen, more like a one-bedroom apartment mini-kitchen. However, I was forced to settle.

So, I took Top Ramen as my base, cheap, effortless, and started cutting things up to put inside. I’d buy pre-made chicken at the grocery store and cut the meat into bite-sized pieces, or I’d take a can of salmon and flake it with a fork and toss it into soup. I cut onions, potatoes and assorted vegetables. Eventually, I became fearless, throwing just about anything in there, remembering “I was born hungry” and guess what happened? I began to realize what works well and what flavors go best together, and today: viola, the best soup in town.

No, I don’t have toothaches or anything anymore, but I still make soup every day, and probably eat healthier than the worst politically correct vegetarians on said planet. It turns out that our ancestors were right to eat soup, it has many other benefits. It’s easy on your digestive system, leaving more power for your brain. It delivers the nutrients to your body, muscles, and mind faster this way, and it’s less expensive, I guess, depending on the ingredients. If you’re not a soup eater yet, or sipper drinker you surely should be, I can safely recommend this to you for a reason; experience. In fact, I hope you will please consider all of this and think about it.
