It’s no secret that every day people make money with the Google AdSense program. Throughout the brief history of AdSense, there have been many theories about how to best maximize the CTR (click-through rate) of your website’s AdSense ads. While many methods work well, there is a proven way to attract visitors to your site who are genuinely interested in what those ads have to offer.

1) Focus on products or servicesā€¦things people are looking to buy

Simply put, create a site about a certain product or service. Google AdSense ads are simply ads for products or services, right? If you want to attract visitors who click on those ads, your target market will be those who are actively searching for that product or service. If you want to monetize your website with Google AdSense ads, why not optimize your site’s content to target exactly the visitors your ads are targeting?

2) Find a micro niche product. (A niche within a niche)

The more specific you are with your keywords, the better the chances that your site will rank high in the search engines for that particular search term. And the higher your CTR on your AdSense ads. The broader your keyword is, the more competition there is for that keyword.

For example, the keyword ‘real estate’ is very popular, but it would be very difficult to distinguish your website from the millions of other real estate websites on the web. The keyword ‘Napa Valley Condos’ would be a much more niche niche and your competition would not be as fierce. (Ultimately, you will drive more website traffic, which would maximize your CTR on your AdSense ads)

3) Look for high search volume, low competition, and lots of advertisers.

When doing your keyword research for your AdSense site, the best words and phrases are those that have a high monthly search volume. Anything above 2,400 and below 100,000 is a good starting point. Keyword research tools like the Google External Keyword Research Tool and Wordtracker are great tools and they are very accurate too. If you use the Google tool, be sure to search for “exact numbers.”

Once you’ve found something in that range, check out your competition. There are some software programs, like Micro Niche Finder and Market Samurai, that will not only show you the strength of the competition for that particular keyword, but also help you find micro niches for your keyword.

Then head over to Spyfu (limited free service) to check if there are enough advertisers for your particular keyword. If all goes well, get busy writing your content!
