Music is one of the great motivators … whether it’s exercising, just working out, or dancing the night away … playing the right music can determine how much we enjoy what we’re doing.

Music can help you get in the “zone”, makes you want to move, and can lift your mood.

Why do we listen to music? Each generation has a different answer. Regardless of the answers, both generations can agree that it affects their well-being. This is accomplished in a number of ways … including emotional experiences and memories.

Maybe you’ve had a rough day and you’re relaxing on your couch with your headphones listening to the latest album by your favorite artist or you’re working out.

Music can be so distracting from pain and fatigue that you don’t care about that spot on the side! It can elevate your mood and increase stamina. Playing a happy song can make you work harder, making the time you spend exercising feel like it flew by.

There’s nothing like listening to Rocky (Gonna Fly Now), AC / DC’s You Shook Me All Night Long, or Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger to get your adrenaline pumping!

While doing yoga or studying, how about a quieter playlist, songs like Yellow by Coldplay or Stir it Up by Bob Marley?

How about dancing the night away with the latest from Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber? What a great way to hang out with friends, meet new people, and get some exercise! Dancing can even help improve your balance.

Some say that listening to soft music can slow people down while they eat, making them more aware of what they eat and how much they eat.

Some people will listen to music at work in an effort to focus on the tasks at hand (or just to lock the guy in the cubicle next door who is constantly on the phone). They say they are more efficient and can have more ideas while listening to music as it improves their mood. However, there are some who feel that wearing headphones or earphones all day is perceived as rude and that people weren’t doing their job.

Regardless of what you listen to or where you are, there are many options available for listening to music. From Bluetooth speakers (also great for a backyard barbecue!), To Bluetooth headphones to use with your sports armband for your smartphone while walking or jogging while enjoying the great outdoors.
