The fall season is upon us, time to break out the sweaters and jeans and put away the summer clothes. Now is the time to go out in the evening around a good fire with family and friends to prepare sweet snacks or treats. Summer has finally relinquished its dominance and relinquished control to cooler days and cool nights.

As the season changes, so will the items we use to make our homes our own. With fall decorations for home decor, you can add rich colors, fall flowers, wall art, and new scents. The leaves at this time of year are changing color and you will see red, orange-red, reddish-brown, yellow, yellow-brown, golden-bronze, and scarlet-red. Of course, the colors you see will depend on the trees and shrubs you have in the area where you live.

Also with this time of year are new candle scents being introduced. Some of the fragrances I’ve seen are Autumn in the Park, Crisp Morning Air, Sweater Weather, Marshmallow Fireside, Pumpkin Pit Stop, and Apple Tree Picnic.

We cannot forget about the flowers that bloom in autumn. These perennials are Aster, Red Spider Lily, Fall Crocus and Toad Lily and they will return year after year to our delight and enjoyment. Not to mention its decorative properties.

There are many ways to incorporate these elements inside and outside our home. We can have chandeliers in the house or on the patio for the aroma of autumn. Try placing flowering plants in pots or window boxes on the patio or along the side of walkways to add color. You can also cut the flowers and bring them into the house and display them in vases to add color and scent to any room. Finding leaves of different colors and placing them in a basket would look nice as a centerpiece on the dining room table. The best way to organize the leaves would be by color and size, just like you do with the flowers. Another idea for the basket would be to use different types, sizes and colors of pumpkins arranged in the basket with some leaves for accents. If you have fir trees nearby, you can find some pine cones to use for your ideas.

Wall art depicting fall scenes can be displayed to add charm. Art I’ve seen lately is Blooming Iris, Cattail Swamp, Winter Tree, Autumn Leaves, Autumn Potpourri, and Autumn Golden Walk. These can be just metal cutouts or real paintings with bright colors.
