Truck bed liners are an easy way to protect your truck bed from dents and corrosion. Any type of transport is an opportunity to scratch the paint on the bed and start the downward spiral of rust. Use your truck to haul and keep it in good shape with a flatbed liner. But why would you choose a drop liner over a spray liner or some other liner?

Some advantages of bed liners

1. Drop liners are custom made to fit your truck. There are no “universal fit” liners, but a true custom fit for your truck model. The downside is that older trucks or rare trucks will not have siding available for those models.

2. Plastic liners are thick and very strong, virtually indestructible. Carry almost any heavy load and these liners will stand up to the job. If after much use, the liner needs to be replaced, that’s easy to do. In contrast, a spray eyeliner is “permanent,” so if it sustains serious damage, it must be repaired as it cannot be replaced.

3. A thick plastic liner protects the bed from impact damage. What would dent and dent an unprotected bed may not damage a plastic siding at all. The thick plastic spreads the load over a larger area and prevents dents.

3. A custom bed cover looks good and keeps its good looks for a long time. A bedliner can enhance the look of your truck. Change that bland painted look to a fresh custom siding look.

4. Works well in any type of weather. Neither snow, sun, rain nor mud will bother this liner. Plus, it’s easy to clean with just a quick hose down. Just make sure the bed drains work so water doesn’t get trapped under the liner.

5. Cheap is good. Compare a drop on the liner to a spray on the liner and you will generally find that the plastic liner is considerably less expensive. Custom liners come in different designs, not all of them are one piece. Some are made in parts with a bottom piece that is usually thick rubber and snap-on side pieces. Either design is relatively inexpensive and easy to replace when worn or damaged.

Especially if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive bed liner that will stand up to the toughest use, a custom bed liner may be the best option for your truck.
